Nope. I have a streak of 9 straight years of not attending that I'm rather proud of.

Did you REALLY think about the 'Great Tribulation'?
by jw07 inaccording to wt doctrine jehovah's witnesses will be singled out and persecuted during a time described in this way: "for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the worlds beginning until now, no, nor will occur again.
" according to the watchtower the devil will turn on god's people will all his might (if he really exists, why hasn't he done so already?
) in an attempt to wipe them out.. also, it's not promised that all jws will escape unscathed during this period of time.. even before i woke up fully to ttatt i really thought about what that meant.

Definitely, when I was a kid. Much less so when I reached adulthood, and started to take note of serious holes in WT doctrine, and the bible itself.

A point which virtually every JW will miss in this week's book study
by sir82 infrom this week's book study, the "draw close to jehovah" book, chapter 5:.
biologists have identified well over a million species of living things on earth; yet, opinions vary as to whether there may be as many as 10 million, 30 million, or more.. .
wow!

"some investigators" = WT staff writers (aka, janitors) making B.S. up off the top of their head....
My thought, exactly. Interesting how there isn't a single actual source listed for people to verify the WT's "facts".

How did you find the truth about the truth (TTATT)
by Maat13 ini am sure there has been a post about this subject, however being a recent addition to the network i don't know how to do a search.
and i'm sure new folks have joined since then.
i am really curious of how others came to know ttatt.. for me is was a real bad experience with one elder after another.

I stumbled upon an apostate book(The Watchtower Files by Duane Mangini) in a used bookstore. I was already having serious doubts, so my mind was far more predisposed to reading it. It led me to other books, and eventually this website.

What is the main "idea" of the bible?
by KateWild inas jws we were often told what the theme of the bible is, we were taught that it was the promised seed.. i was recently asked the question.... what is the main "idea" of the bible?.
for me the whole purpose of the bible is about control.
it features a god that punishes and rewards.

Preaching to a Captive Audience in CostCutters!!
by AuntBee inso, i'm sitting in the waiting area, and there's this one lady getting one of those long procedures involving color, etc.
so, as the stylist is working on her, i can overhear her preaching to her stylist about demons and immortality of the soul, from wt lit, using her ipad!
she was talking about the topics, referencing the proof verse, and then asking the programmed questions!.

Give her a break. She can count time while getting her hair done. Brilliant, actually.

Creative ways of counting field service time
by 4thgen inthere was a sister in my congregation that signed up to aux pioneer one month to put in 60 hours.
we couldn't figure out why she was never at the arrangements, but yet she said she got in her time early in the month.
we found out later that we wrote a letter that took her an hour.

When I went down to South Carolina from Wisconsin, I happened to be auxilary pioneering that month. I was worried about making my time, and I didn't want to have to spend my vacation out in field service. So I left a tract at a rest area in Wisconsin, and another when I got to South Carolina. I counted all the travel time in between. Needless to say I made my hours for the month.

Books!
by dynamiterose77 ini feel like i wasn't allowed to read a lot of books when i was younger, a lot of which i'm discovering are positivly phenomenal.. i was allowed to read edgar allan poe, who remains my all time favorite writer.
but, i've discovered the joys of stephen king, anne rice, joyce carrol oats, neil gaiman, george r. martin, david sedaris... and so so so many more.. i'm currently getting through "the shining" so i can move on to "doctor sleep".
i'm interested to see if anyone else that discovered the many joys of "worldly" literature, jumped immediately into what they weren't allowed to read... and what was your favorite?.

I just finished the Dark Tower series from Stephen King, and I'm almost finished with Wind Through the Keyhole.
I'm starting to get into a couple of other horror writers, namely Jack Ketchum and Peter Straub. I would've stayed away from this type of literature when I was a believing JW.

Is it common for Jehovah's Witnesses to turn to alcohol when they realize the Watchtower is a scam
by Watchtower-Free inbecause they don't know what to do and they want to numb the pain .
especially for bornins..

I'm sure it's fairly common. It didn't happen in my case, though. I started drinking long before then.
